Great Dive Bars: Northern U.S. edition
To accompany our scenic rides of the Northern U.S. post, we have compiled a list of great biker dive bars. So, if you?re in the north for a ride, stop at some of these great bars for a drink or two.
Old Miami, Detroit, MI
Located in Midtown, Old Miami is a classic dive in every sense of the word. With plenty of bike-friendly parking out front, the Old Miami is an unassuming bar with every feature you could possible want after a long ride.
Despite the name, there is nothing beach-themed here. Old Miami is an acronym for ?Missing In Action Michigan.? The bar was established as a spot for Vietnam veterans. The decor features U.S. military memorabilia.
Play pool or unwind on comfortable couches. Stay inside and dance or head out back. The back of the bar is not just a patio, but a full backyard for a casual, among-friends feeling. The Old Miami is also known for its live music scene.
The Outlaw Saloon, Cheyenne, WY
Another great military-friendly dive is the Outlaw Saloon in Cheyenne. Every Thursday is military appreciation night, with other great drink specials Monday through Wednesday.
The Outlaw Saloon is 26,000 square feet of bar. With five bar areas, three stories, and a patio, there is plenty of room to relax.
With live music every night, pool tables, darts, and slot machines, the bar is a great place for bikers to let loose. Enjoy the country vibe and cheap drinks.
Mangy Moose Saloon, Hill City, SD
The Mangy Moose is a classic biker bar, with cheap drinks and good eats. This is a popular destination for motorcycle enthusiasts, so be sure to make a stop and meet some like-minded folks.
Right in the middle of Main Street, the Mangy Moose Saloon features classic pub fare and some Mexican-inspired dishes. The large patio is great for people-watching. This spring, they plan on adding daily music.
Be aware that they are only open on Fridays and Saturdays during the harsh South Dakota winter. If you?re there for the great views in the spring, stop in for a cold beer and entertainment.
Dirty Shame Saloon, Troy, MT
Deep in the Montana outback lies the World Famous Dirty Shame Saloon, which has been around since the 1950s. The tavern in the Yaak River Valley is owned by two bikers who wanted to restore it to all its dirty, shameful glory.
The Dirty Shame Saloon has regular vice-filled events to appeal to locals and tourists. This spring there is an adult Easter Egg Hunt, and last fall featured a crawdad and beer pong fest. In the true spirit of biker bars, veterans get a discount.
There?s not a lot in Troy, Montana except beautiful rides for you and your bike. Stop in for a great burger, cold beers, and a wild, shameful night.
